Gabriel Gutierrez- Hip Hop
Gabriel is originally from Chicago, IL & grew up in Cypress Park in what is now known as North East Los Angeles, CA. He was first exposed to hip hop dance through Abraham Lincoln High School's dance team “Urban Movement” in 2011. In 2012 He was awarded the Flourish Foundation Scholarship to attend a one-week dance intensive at UCLA called the Summer Dance-Theater Intensive which impacted his aspirations in life to shift to be more dance-centered. During his 3rd and 4th year at UCLA he created a Breaking Program in collaboration with the Community Programs Office and Hathaway-Sycamores Child and Family Services at the Highland Park Family Resource Center. The workshops explored breaking fundamentals and ways to navigate personal and peer level issues the youth faced on a daily basis. Since graduating from UCLA Gabriel continues to teach hip hop and breaking with Agency Arts, Dance2Serve, and other arts organizations across Los Angeles. Overall Gabriel uses his artistry to provide access to the most overlooked communities with regards to underground hip hop dance programs. Gabriel wants to continue using his arts experience to give back to foster the youth from all communities across Los Angeles.
