Kelly Patterson is a dance choreographer, performer and educator. Her movement exploration began in high school when she joined the dance team and quickly fell in love with dance. She began producing original choreography for the stage at the age of 15 with Point Loma High School’s Thespian Society. She continued to study ballet and modern dance at San Diego State University where she trained with highly accomplished and respected arts educators Kathryn Irey, Jess Humphrey, Joseph Alter and Leslie Seiters. Her studies at the university focused on somatic practices, perspectives of body mind states and contact improvisation. She immersed herself in community performances with San Diego Dance Theatre, Malashock Dance, Jibe and other dance companies in California. She had the opportunity to work with choreographers Emanuel Gat from Israel and Sara Rudner from New York City. She now has a BFA in Dance from San Diego State University and a B.S in Business Administration with an emphasis in entrepreneurship. She has taught dance in California and Wyoming and currently teaches with multiple companies in Wichita.
